Bilal Education society(B.E.S) officials awarded certificates of completion to 88 learners, representing various wards from Isiolo.
The organisation marked its one year since its operation in Isiolo County.
The program entails equipping the society with necessary and relevant Islamic teachings with the main objective of spreading the word further across the community at large using places such as mosques,events and other social gatherings as a mode of conveying the information.
Today's function was a two in one which involved the official launching of the program as well as the graduation ceremony. This comes after 88 person(s) underwent the training and completed successfully.
The celebration brought together various Islamic leaders across the county.
"This program will be a continuous one every School holiday which will accommodate everyone across the region," said the organisation chair Sheikh Hussein Enow.
He said the current program focus on isiolo county, but the organisation is planning to extend and shift focus to other counties such as marsabit and Samburu in the coming school holiday.
" We always carry out this activity during school holidays because of the space offered by the school during school holidays, its an opportunity we are trying to exploit, " said Sheikh Enow
"I am here as governor Guyo's representative in this gathering,He is away for a similar Islamic gathering known as Jitimai which is taking place in Garissa County,he has pledged to offer his full support in this program.
Chief officer Urban planning and Housing Dr Mohamud Abdikadir graced the occassion on behalf of the Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan.
He said the Islamic teachings were key and it will aid the youths in different aspects , equipping them with necessary islamic teaching that will help and mould them shun drug abuse, focus on spreading messages hence reducing crime rates.
" We are also considering the Islamic teachers across the county as the county government,we are coming up with a bill that will be tabled in the county assembly,incase it pass as a law we will integrate the teachers into a paying system and include them on a payroll",stated Dr Mohamud.
The program obtained support from the county government of Isiolo by acknowledging their effort and promised to offer any support required from the county.
